Built by an indie.
For indies.
No VC funding. No growth hacking. No "we're building the future of press kits." Just a developer who saw a problem and fixed it.
The Story
It started with a studio that needed a press kit.
I've been building things on the internet for 25+ years — from the same small corner of Europe that gave us Vlambeer. Websites, apps, tools — if it runs on a server, I've probably broken it at some point.
A while back, a game studio I know was preparing for their first release. They needed a press kit. They tried presskit() — the classic tool by Rami Ismail — but it hadn't been updated since 2017 and broke on their hosting.
They looked at hosted alternatives. Monthly fees for what is essentially a web page? That didn't sit right. They ended up being told to "just build something custom."
That's when I thought: "Why doesn't someone just make a proper WordPress plugin for this?"
So I did. I built it for them. And now it's yours too.
What We Believe
The anti-SaaS manifesto.
You Own Your Data
Your press kit lives on your server, your domain. We can't take it away. We can't pivot to AI and delete your account.
Made for Game Devs
This isn't a generic "portfolio tool." Every feature exists because game studios need it. Steam import, embargoes, press-friendly layouts.
Free Forever (Really)
The free tier isn't a demo. It's a complete product. Pro tiers exist for studios who want more, not because we're holding features hostage.
Standing on Shoulders
Credit where it's due.
Inspired by presskit()
In 2013, Rami Ismail of Vlambeer released presskit() — a free, open tool that became the gold standard for indie game press kits. It helped thousands of developers look professional when reaching out to press.
That tool shaped how an entire generation of indie devs presented their games. The clean layouts, the focus on giving journalists exactly what they need, the "just upload and go" simplicity — presskit() got it right.
presskit.gg exists because of that foundation. We're not a replacement — we're a continuation. Same spirit, modernized for 2025: WordPress-native, maintained, with Steam import and the features today's studios need.
Thank you, Rami and Jan Willem, for giving the indie community such a generous head start. Proud to carry the torch forward from the same little country.
That's it. That's the pitch.
No 10-page manifesto. No "disrupting the industry." Just a tool that works, built by someone who gives a damn.
